ISUZU launch

BS6 Isuzu V-Cross, MU-X India launch today: Price expectations

We will start off the week with an important launch -- that of the BS6 iterations of the V-Cross and the MU-X. Yep, Isuzu Motors India will start offering the new iteraions of both the aforementioned vehicles for retail across the country. Better late than never, we say; in case you are wondering what that is about -- well, the company hasn't yet completed the transition to the new emission norms, i.e. BS6. Actually, its commercial vehicles had made the switch, but private vehicles were yet to make the transition. But more about the upcoming launches -- the automaker will launch the BS6 compliant versions of the D-Max V-Cross pick-up truck, including the Hi-Lander version, and the M-UX SUV.

Please note that the BS6 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross won't feature any other change save for the mechanical changes to ensure compliance. This is despite the fact that Isuzu had revealed an all-new version of the pick-up for international markets in 2019. Basically, the model that will go on sale in India will be just the BS6 version of D-Max that was sold here till 31 March, 2020.

Nonetheless, we do hear that the updated model will come equipped with the 1.9-litre diesel engine instead of the 2.5-litre diesel engine. It must be noted that in the older model, the 1.9-litre motor was available only with the top-end trim. The engine belts out a maximum power output of 161 bhp and 360 Nm, which translates into a slight increase in performance as compared to the BS4 model. Transmission duties will be tended to by a six-speed automatic gearbox.

As for the BS6 Isuzu MU-X -- this one too will only get an updated engine, most likely the same 3.0-litre diesel engine. Not much else is know about this upcoming SUV in India yet, but it won't be too long before we do.

BS6 Isuzu V-Cross, MU-X: Price expectations

Now, the key point: How much are these new cars in india likely to cost? At the time of announcing that it would cease production of its BS4 vehicles in December 2019, the company had also mentioned that the switch to BS6 would result in an increase of about ₹3 lakh to ₹4 lakh for Isuzu D-Max V-Cross and MU-X.  So, there's that.
